There comes a point in every journey when you know it’s time to turn the key for the final time. After a lot of thought, we’ve decided to sell our motorhome. Over the past year or so, we’ve found ourselves using it only a couple of times a year and, as much as we’ve loved having it, we simply couldn’t justify keeping it sitting on the drive waiting for another adventure. So, sadly, this is the end of my motorhome travel blogs.

And what adventures we’ve had. From our very first trip to Ullswater in the Lake District, there was always a sense of excitement about setting off, wondering where the road would take us and what memories we would bring home.

That first adventure feels like the perfect place to begin if you’d like to travel back through the blogs with me:

From there, we headed north into Scotland, where our travels took us to Hoddom Castle:

Then came Castle Bay and another chance to explore more of Scotland:

Our travels later took us to Tantallon in North Berwick:

Our travels then brought us a little closer to home with a trip to West Runton in Norfolk:

And finally, there was Bude in Cornwall. At the time, of course, we didn’t know this would become our last motorhome adventure, but looking back now, it seems rather fitting that our travels ended with one more journey to a beautiful part of the country.

Looking back through all six journeys brings back so many memories. From the Lake District to Scotland, Norfolk and finally Cornwall, we saw some beautiful places and experienced the freedom that comes from packing up a motorhome and simply heading off.

There were the good days, the unexpected moments and, inevitably, the occasions when things didn’t quite go according to plan. Of course, those were usually the moments that made the best stories afterwards. Most of all, I’ve loved sharing the journeys with you.

Every time I sat down to write about where we’d been, what we’d seen and what had made us laugh along the way, it felt as though I was taking you with me. Your comments, messages and interest in our travels made writing the blogs every bit as enjoyable as the journeys themselves, and I hope that, for a little while, you felt you were travelling alongside us.

I’ll certainly miss writing these posts, and I’m sure there will come a day when I see a motorhome heading off down the road and feel a tiny pang of regret. But life changes, and ours wasn’t being used enough. It deserves to belong to someone who will pack it up, turn that key and take it on adventures of their own.

As for me, I’m returning to another kind of journey. My books. Writing has always been a huge part of my life and now feels like the right time to concentrate on another novel. With two books already finished in my new paranormal series (currently with my agent) and a coastal romance in the midst of editing, I’m on a writing streak. There are still more characters waiting to be discovered, stories waiting to be told and plenty of fictional roads still left for me to travel. So there may be fewer tales from campsites, castles and country roads from now on, but there will still be plenty coming from my desk.

To everyone who followed our motorhome adventures, read the blogs, laughed at our escapades and came along for the ride, thank you. I’ve loved having you with us. The motorhome may be heading off on new adventures without us, but ours certainly aren’t over. We’re simply taking a different road.
