There are few things better than books bringing people together, but when those books can also help raise money for children who need support, that makes being an author feel particularly worthwhile.
This year, I’m delighted to be taking part in Children in Read 2026, a wonderful fundraising event supporting BBC Children in Need.
Authors from across the country have donated signed books to the Children in Read auction, giving readers the chance to bid for books while helping to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. There are books from a wide range of authors and genres, so it’s well worth having a browse through the auction to see what catches your eye.
And, of course, a couple of little hedgehogs have managed to find their way in there too. 🦔🦔
Hoglets’ Christmas Magic is Lot 239
I’ve donated a copy of Hoglets’ Christmas Magic, which is now officially Lot 239 in this year’s auction.
With Christmas approaching, it seemed the perfect Hoglets book to choose. It’s a festive adventure full of friendship, family and Christmas magic, and I love the thought that a book written to bring a little happiness to children can now help support other children too.
Bidding for my book starts at £10.
How does the Children in Read auction work?
It’s very straightforward.
Visit the Children in Read 2026 online auction and you’ll find all the books that have been donated by participating authors. Each book has its own lot and starting bid.
If you’d specifically like to find Hoglets’ Christmas Magic, I’ve made that even easier. The link below takes you to the auction with my name already searched, so you won’t have to hunt through all the other lots to find the Hoglets.

Once you’re there, simply select the book and follow the instructions on the auction site to place your bid. If another bidder beats your bid, you can return and bid again before the auction closes.
Have a look at the other books too
Although naturally I’d love to see plenty of bids flying in for the Hoglets, this event is much bigger than one book or one author.
So many authors have generously donated books this year, and every bid helps support the fundraising effort. You might discover a new author, find a Christmas present for a book lover, pick up a signed book for yourself, or end up in a bidding battle over one you simply have to own!
And every one of those bids is helping a brilliant cause.
That’s what makes Children in Read such a lovely idea. Books already have the ability to entertain, comfort and inspire children. Through this auction, they get the chance to do a little more.
I’m very proud that Hoglets’ Christmas Magic is among them this year.
