Exciting News: Hoglets’ Great Egg Hunt Coming Soon!

Hoglet’ Great Egg Hunt

I’m delighted to announce that my third Hoglets adventure, Hoglets’ Great Egg Hunt, is officially on its way.

Right now, I’m eagerly waiting on the final illustrations, which is always one of the most exciting stages of publishing a children’s book. The words may be written first, but it’s the artwork that truly brings the characters and the story to life. To give you a little glimpse of this process, I will be sharing a before and after image. One shows the early pencil sketch, while the other reveals the finished illustration, complete with colour, texture and detail. Watching Primrose and Prickles transform from a rough outline into fully realised characters never fails to feel magical.

Publishing a children’s book is a journey that takes many hands and a lot of patience. Once the manuscript is polished, it’s passed to the illustrator, who interprets the story visually. From there, the images are refined, page layouts are created, and everything is carefully pieced together into a book that children can hold and cherish. It’s a collaborative effort, and I feel fortunate to work alongside such talented people who help bring my imagination to life.

Hoglets’ Great Egg Hunt follows Primrose and Prickles as they set out on a new adventure filled with surprises, laughter and the joy of friendship. As with the first two books, Hoglets’ Christmas Magic and Hoglets’ Birthday Surprise the story encourages curiosity, teamwork and kindness. This time, there’s also plenty of Easter fun, with hidden eggs for readers to spot along the way.

This is the first sketch from Hoglets’ Great Egg Hunt.

In this opening scene, we meet Primrose and Prickles, the lovable hoglets, as they scamper after their friend Rosie Rabbit through the meadow. Rosie is leading the way with her usual spring in her step, while the hoglets hurry along behind, eager and curious about the adventure ahead.

The lively forest setting, with oversized leaves, mushrooms, and flowers, captures the playful and magical world of the Hoglets. It sets the stage for their exciting egg hunt to begin.

This series has always been about more than storytelling. It’s about showing young readers that even the smallest characters can achieve great things, and that every adventure is easier when shared with friends.

The sketch has now come to life in full colour, bursting with vibrancy and fun. Rosie Rabbit looks bright and full of energy, her soft grey fur and daisy tucked behind her ear making her instantly lovable. Behind her, Primrose and Prickles are full of character, their little details such as Primrose’s pink bow giving them charm and personality.

The background adds to the magic, with lush green leaves, a towering mushroom, and cheerful splashes of purple and pink flowers that make the woodland path feel alive. The whole scene feels playful, warm, and inviting, perfectly capturing the joyful spirit of Hoglets’ Great Egg Hunt.

I’ll keep you updated as we get closer to release day, with more sneak peeks of illustrations and some behind-the-scenes insights. Thank you to everyone who has supported Primrose and Prickles so far. I can’t wait for you to join them on their next adventure.

Hogletty snuffles,
Lynette
