Author Bio …
NONNIE JULES grew up in Louisiana where she still lives today with her family on a quiet strip of land in the country. Her house is filled with daughters, a husband and many, many animals. She grew up loving books and everything about them. She has traveled the world, jumped out of planes and climbed many mountains, all thanks to the wonderful world of literature. She loves to write from many genres including poetry, fiction & non and also ‘How-To’ guides. She loves positive feedback on her writing and personally responds to each and every email at nonniewrites@yahoo.com. She finds simple pleasures in just being in a book store.
Now it’s time to get to know Nonnie the writer a little better!
Q. What made you want to write a book about guiding parents who are raising their kids?
A. My daughters are both so very well-behaved, kind and manner-able, the epitome of (almost) perfect daughters, and I pray that a world left behind by me would be filled with more people just like them. The only way that this will ever happen, is for each of us, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, adults in general, to band together and work from the same blueprint. Only then can we build a world free of hatred, jealousy, greed, selfishness and just plain ugly. So, although my reasons initially were very selfish for writing this guide, I look around and the majority of the poor behavior that we see adults exhibiting today, is probably because there was a lack of proper parenting when they were kids. So for that reason, I’m glad this book is out there now. And I have to say, it’s doing very well on its own merit.
Q. Were your own children your inspiration to writing the book if so, how?
A. Yes, my daughters were the total inspiration for me writing this book.
Q. How long did it take you to write your book?
A. It took me 17 days to write this book from start to finish. How did I do it so quickly, many have asked? Because I taught and used every tip in the book for my daughters or other young ladies who I was led to guide at some point and time.
Q. What is the key message of your book?
A. The key message of this book is that we as parents, as guardians, as adults, have a responsibility to children, even the ones that are not our own. I truly believe that every opportunity that you as an adult are given to be in the presence of any child, should be a teaching opportunity for you and a learning opportunity for that child. For parents who are using the book for their own children, consistency is the key.
Q. Do you have parents contacting you for advice?
A. Parents contact me for advice ALL the time. I am so honored when they do and I am very humbled when parents expect that their kids behave in a certain manner around me. That to me says that they respect my opinions, but I think it’s more of the fact that they see my children and the way they are and behave, and on some level, as I have been told by many parents, they wish their kids could be more like mine. This is a top of the line compliment for me and I thank GOD that he has put me in the position to where my influence and opinion matters to parents who want the best for their kids, and who want THE BEST kids. I can say from my deepest place, that I love all children and it warms my heart immensely when I see or hear of some child excelling and doing well. We all have a purpose for being here, and GOD made children my purpose.
* Side note: Parents have asked for a forum where they can ask questions directly and so right now I’m working on possibly having an interactive page added to my blog called “ASK THE MOMMY” where parents would be able to direct questions and have them answered. So, look forward to this in the near future at WATCH NONNIE WRITE!
Q. What books do you like to read, what writers inspire you?
A. I like to read so many different genres of books, it’s unbelievable! And I’m inspired by many writers that I just couldn’t list one or two here. There are so many new writers that I have met via social media and they are truly awesome so some of the names I might throw at you, just may not be on the best sellers list YET, but they inspire me and I think they’re great!
Q. How is your blog tour going? How much support have you received from other writers?
A. My blog tour is going awesomely! I have not been feeling very well lately as I ended up in the hospital last week and it has thrown me behind in promoting my tour personally, but I will have to say that my Twitter family and my fellow writers who have hosted a stop, they are doing a fantastic job of holding me up as I say, while I’m a little down (under the weather). I thank all of them for their patience with me simply because I wasn’t able to move as fast as I typically do with getting my guest posts to them. Perfect example here, I have sent a guest post during the wee hours of the morning and let me tell you, that host of my tour, had it up and ready on time for the next day! These guys are great! And my support during this, my 3rd tour, simply marvelous!!!
Q. Have you any book signings planned other than a virtual tour?
A. I’ve no book signings planned for my near future, too many other things going on in my world right now. But, some day.
Q. What advice would you give anyone who wishes to write a book which is to help and guide other people?
A. When you’re writing a book that is meant to help and guide others, my advice would be to really know what you’re talking about before you put something out there. Do your research, as much as possible so that the methods you are presenting are tried and true. I didn’t have to research much for THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE… because I lived the book. I taught every tip in the book, and those are the books I generally like to read when they’re giving advice because they are situations that the author has lived and experienced themselves. Not saying that this is a bad thing, but when authors are giving advice on a subject such as parenting, I personally would not receive that information well if it were to come from someone who isn’t a parent. That’s just my two-cents. Now the novel that I’m wrapping up now DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND is a work of fiction and I had to research. But, even in that, I wanted to be extremely thorough with the details of the book and the city that it’s set out of, so I visited that city many, many times just so that I would appear to have some knowledge of what I was sharing, even though it’s all fictitious.
Q. What is the next step in your writing career?
A. Oh, well hopefully there are many more books in my future to write! I also hope that you guys will be hearing the name NONNIE JULES for many, many years to come.

EXCERPT:
St. Joseph’s Hospital was becoming a second home to Marisa. Each time her mom did something that caused her to go, she sat quietly as the nurses asked “What happened this time?” Although it was obvious they had their suspicions that Marisa was somehow being abused, they took her mom’s responses and wrote them down anyway. “She’s so clumsy. This time she tripped over her little brother’s feet and fell right into a cabinet door.” The attending nurse raised her eyes slowly to look at her mom, because anyone with two eyes could see that there was no way this open wound could have been caused the way this woman was describing it. The gash was on the top of Marisa’s head and it was clearly not done by a cabinet.
